Über das Projekt

About the project

  • Organisationsentwicklung in Pflegeeinrichtungen (Fachhochschule Magdeburg-Stendal),
  • Führung in Einrichtungen der Sozialen Arbeit (Fachhochschule Neubrandenburg),
  • Sozialarbeit in palästinensischen Krankenhäusern (An-Najah Universität),

Dezember 2022.

Leadership and Advocacy in Social- and Health Care professions

How do professionals and executive leaders in social work and nursing understand their professional role between the conflicting poles of efficiency orientation and the core values of the profession? What skills do they need to engage with their community and to provide "good" leadership that serves the profession?
Under the lead of Prof. Dr. Susanne Dreas, Prof. Dr. Steffi Kraehmer, Prof. Dr. Robert Northoff and Prof. Dr. Rahim Hajji, students will explore specific concepts of leadership and advocacyin their respective cultural context. They will be collaborating in cross-cultural practical projects going to be conducted in Jordan, the Palestinian Territories and Germany. The funding was awarded by the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service)under the umbrella of the program "University Dialogue with the Islamic World".

The practical projects are as follows:

  • Organizational development in nursing facilities (Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences),
  • Leadership in human service organizations (Neubrandenburg University of Applied Sciences),
  • Social work in Palestinian hospitals (An-Najah University),
  • Empowerment of refugee families with special reference to the role of the head of the family in Jordan (Al-Balqa University),
  • Advocacy and empowerment for refugee women living alone in Jordan (German-Jordanian University).

The goal is to organize and conduct joint events together with the participating universities, to skill up students and (young) scholars, toimprove intercultural skills and to firmly establish research networks among the partners. The project runs from February 1 throughDecember 31, 2022.
