The cards can be loaded at the machines in the foyer next to the Mensa (cafeteria) and in the University Library. Once you have loaded a certain amount onto your card, the corresponding price will simply be debited from your University Card on payment.

Where Can I Use the University Card for Payments?

You can use the University Card to pay for food and drinks at the Mensa (cafeteria) and the Snack Bar in Building 1. You will also need it to use and pay for the printers and photocopiers (more here) and for borrowing books from the University Library.

How Can I Load Money onto my University Card?

The University Card can be loaded by inserting the card into the loading machine and loading a certain amount of money to the card. The machine takes notes up to € 50 and 1 and 2-euro coins. After the amount has been loaded, you have to confirm the transaction (green tick on the display). The machine will then eject your University Card with the loaded amount. The machines next to the Mensa (cafeteria) can be used during the Mensa’s opening hours (Monday-Friday from 11.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.), the machine in the University Library can be used during the Library’s opening hours (University Library website).

Tip: Do not load too much money to your card at once, because the amount will not be reimbursed if you lose your card.
