The "Ideas Competition" project is funded by the Ministry of Economics, Construction and Tourism of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+).

The competition is aimed at students, graduates and researchers at the above-mentioned universities. According to the Operational Programme, the strategic objective is to "support innovation by developing human capital in research through better cooperation between science and industry". The following specific objective was derived from this: "The identification of start-up potential and innovative technologies at universities and research institutions in order to significantly increase the number of potential ideas utilised in the economy in the long term." Furthermore, "innovative technologies and ideas at universities and research institutions are to be supported not only with financial resources, but also with valuable contacts, intensive coaching and important experience". Against this background, the ideas competition promotes the development of innovative ideas at the above-mentioned universities as well as in the entire research region of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and increases their chances of success in terms of successfully establishing themselves on the market.

Goals

One of the objectives of the ideas competition is to identify start-up potential and innovative technologies in order to significantly increase the number of potential ideas being utilised in the long term, thereby creating and securing high-quality jobs in the long term.

Furthermore, the ideas competition promotes the development of innovative start-up ideas at the University of Rostock, the University of Greifswald, the Fachhochschule des Mittelstands and the universities of applied sciences in Neubrandenburg, Stralsund and Wismar as well as in the entire research region of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and increases their chances of success.

At the same time, the establishment of a sustainable culture of entrepreneurial thinking and action is to be promoted at all levels of the universities and non-university research institutions and beyond their campus boundaries.
