Health and nutrition
For more than 20 years, Neubrandenburg University of Applied Sciences has been teaching, researching and developing across disciplines in both the food sciences and the health sciences, which are increasingly converging based on common issues.
With a focus on practice-orientated research and development issues in both areas, Neubrandenburg University of Applied Sciences has long been an interface for companies, institutions and politics in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
The expertise and experience built up in both subject areas justify the bundling of activities in an independent "Health and Nutrition" field of expertise. The research activities are aimed at the entire chain of food production and processing as well as the associated ecological, social and economic issues at the interface to prevention, health promotion, public health, health system research, care, rehabilitation and hospital management.
The objective of the research focus area is to use interdisciplinary scientific expertise to promote application-oriented solutions to current social challenges (such as health, demographic change and well-being, nutrition and food safety) by making better use of synergies between the two specialist areas and establishing joint research projects relating to issues faced by companies in the sector. The focus is on creating value chains for healthy nutrition and improving the health and well-being of citizens.
The research focus "Health and Nutrition" was included in the research map of the German Rectors' Conference in January 2015.
