Current status of the "We are a university" development process

Just under a year after the OPEN SPACE event, at which university members were able to participate in opinion forums on various university topics, the second event on the "We are a university" development process took place on 18 September 2024.
Looking back
In order to create the best possible working environment, the first step was to get all employees on board by conducting a survey. Each and every employee was to be given the opportunity to submit suggestions for improvement, have a say and actively participate in a dialogue process.
On 20 September 2023, OPEN SPACE invited participants to continue working on current topics. University members took part in various forums, discussing and documenting everything that was said. But what has happened since all the ideas were collected? How have the resulting working groups acted?
Working groups present interim results
The initial results and recommendations have been summarised in a detailed interim report, which has been presented to the Senate and is now available on the university portal. At the second university-wide event on Wednesday afternoon, representatives of the working groups presented their participants and the results of the joint meetings to date in lecture theatre 4. Topics discussed included external and internal communication, sustainability and university structures. In an open discussion, the visitors, including many students, were able to comment on the dialogue process and individual cross-cutting topics, as well as ask questions. Rector Gerd Teschke rightly asked the question "Where can the journey take us?", as the organisational development process naturally does not end with the conclusion of the event. The working groups continue to meet regularly and interested parties, including students, are welcome to join at any time to provide new impetus.
