Study programme

The Master's degree programme in Landscape Architecture at the Neubrandenburg University of Applied Sciences offers three compulsory learning areas in the first semester, which take up, deepen and specify the knowledge acquired from the previous Bachelor's degree programme. The focus is also placed on the acquisition and application of scientific research and development skills. Students must complete the following compulsory learning areas (5 ECTS) as part of the Master's degree programme:

Open space design: working on practical conceptual design projects for complex spatial systems at different scales with regard to aesthetic, spatial, social and ecological functions with a particular focus on sustainability; analysing contemporary open space planning in a national and international context

Sustainable construction methods: Discussion of sustainable construction methods at European and national level with regard to legal and normative requirements of cost-effective construction, life cycle costs and national and international certification systems for sustainable construction and planning

Sustainable maintenance and management of green spaces: processing tasks in the area of long-term green space management, issues relating to the sustainable use of high-quality green spaces and the economic implementation of measures.

In addition to this compulsory area, the following optional teaching areas (with 5 ECTS) are offered, at least three of which must be taken by the students. These areas of study also build on the knowledge already acquired in the Bachelor's degree programme in Landscape Architecture:
