Landscape Architecture and Greenspace Management

Study landscape - where better than in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern

Large-scale, largely natural landscape areas, a distinct cultural landscape and many historical parks against the background of the demands of agriculture, energy industry, resource management, tourism and nature conservation.

Master of Engineering, two/four semesters

A new master's program begins

Hello and welcome to our homepage with links to news, regulations and timetables, applications and other information for you.

During the last four years of running this course we have been collecting feedback on what our students expect and what their aims are plus our own experiences as to their backgrounds and the qualifications and abilities that they bring with them from their previous bachelor degrees around the world. Based on this we have decided to extend our course with the addition of more modules.

As from the 1st of March 2019 we will be offering two paths to obtain a master’s degree in Landscape Architecture and Greenspace Management.

Flyer with more informations

Path A is for students with bachelor degrees in Landscape Architecture, lasts two semesters and starts on the 1st of September (blue blocks). The first semester consists of three compulsory and two compulsory‐elective modules (with a choice of ten elective modules) which prepare the way for the final semester and an intensive four month master‐thesis.

Path B is for students with bachelor degrees in subjects related to landscape architecture, such as Architecture, Urban and Regional Planning, Civil Engineering, Landscape Ecology and Environmental Engineering. Path B lasts four semesters and starts on the 1st of March (green and blue blocks). The first semester (green) consists of three compulsory and two compulsory‐elective modules (with a choice of ten elective modules). For the second semester (blue) path B students join path A and share the three compulsory modules during the winter semester. The 3rd semester is an internship and leads to the four month master‐thesis in the final winter semester.

Both paths contain elements of landscape architecture and greenspace management and also include the opportunity to improve language skills, experience other ways of working and gain insight into specialized fields on the edge of landscape architecture and greenspace management, meet other cultures and the chance to explore Mecklenburg’s unique landscapes. The course is taught in English and the teaching programme is open for both German and international students with a level of proficiency in the English language at (GER) B2 or an international equivalent. Particular emphasis is based on teamwork and on developing an independent, interdisciplinary and academic approach.
This master’s degree is an important step in qualifying for senior public service and is currently in the process of being accredited.

Application Deadlines
Path A: 30th June for students with international qualifications / 31st July for Students with german qualifications.
Path B: 31st December for students with international qualifications / 31st January for students with german qualifications.
