Social & Health Care Management

This four-semester Social & Health Care Management Masters course of study is a specialist postgraduate management and economics programme which provides continuing academic training in the field of Social & Health Care Management.

The course prepares students to take on highly qualified specialist and management tasks in the economically important social and healthcare oriented services and organisation market.

Graduates obtain jobs in the following areas:

  • organisation and management of inpatient institutions such as hospitals, rehabilitation clinics, old people’s homes and long-term care homes and residential facilities for the disabled;
  • out-patient institutions;
  • youth services and social services offices and
  • health insurance companies.

For this purpose, the course focuses on imparting such content as public management, social and administrative law, financial management, controlling and marketing.
In order to be accepted onto the course, students need to have obtained a national or international degree (with an average grade of at least 2.5 on the German grades system of 1 to 6) irrespective of the subject studied.

All teaching programmes are combined to form modules each comprising between four and six teaching hours per week. Students sit a coursere-lated examination in each module. The course leads to the conferment of a Master of Arts (M. A.) degree and concludes with an 18-month academic research project and a final dissertation.
