Early Education

The Early Education course of studies qualifies students to work with children (and their parents) at child day-care centres. The aim of the course is to develop comprehensive employability skills in order to be able to take on educational, developmental and care tasks for girls and boys aged between 0 and 10 in a targeted manner and displaying a high degree of personal commitment. The ability to display empathy for, interpret and systematically document child education processes forms the fulcrum of training. Extensive practical placements at childcare day-centres and primary schools are an integral element of the course and secure a close correlation with practice. The course was accredited by the AHPGS (Accreditation Agency for Study Programmes in Special Education, Care, Health Sciences and Social Work) in September 2006. The Early Education course of studies encompasses six semesters, is structured in an interdisciplinary manner and concludes with the conferment of the degree of Bachelor of Arts (B. A.). The course is modular. The aims of module-based study are to use the most recent academic research findings as a foundation for the acquisition of basic knowledge and to develop the necessary employability skills.
