Application for foreign students |
Immigration formalities
Students from EU member states do not require a visa to enter Germany. A valid passport is sufficient.
If you intend to remain at your guest university for longer than two months you must report to the Registration Office and to the Neubrandenburg Foreign Residents Department within three days.
Cost of living
The monthly cost of living (including rent) is approximately € 600, depending on individual student requirements.
The university refectory usually offers a selection of three meals ranging in price from € 0.90 to € 3.00.
Health insurance
Health insurance agreements exist with all EU member states and most other states in Europe. Students who have health insurance in their own countries must submit the European Health Insurance Card when registering.
We also recommend taking out an international health insurance policy which covers the costs of transportation back to a student’s home country in the event of serious illness.
As well as health insurance, we also advise all foreign students to take out liability insurance.
Accommodation
Four halls of residence are available on Campus. The monthly rent for a single room is between €160 and €180.
A wide range of student accommodation is also available from housing associations in the city; private landlords also often have vacancies. Information on this is available from the Internet “Schwarzes Brett” at this Webiste or alternatively consult the notices which are displayed at the university.
Getting here
Neubrandenburg is easily reached from Berlin and Hamburg by train.
The university is a fifteen-minute walk from the station.
